Status as of February 4, 1999 -

HIPPI-ATM Rev 1.7 has been approved as American National Standard X3.299-1997. The published document has the same technical content as HIPPI-ATM Rev 1.8. The Technical Editor responsibilities passed from Don Tolmie to Roger Ronald.

An ISO version (no technical changes, just some different formatting and spellings) is being processed through the ISO Fast Track procedure.

High-Performance Parallel Interface - Mapping to Asynchronous Transfer Mode (HIPPI-ATM)

Abstract -

This standard defines the frame formats and protocol definitions for encapsulation of High-Performance Parallel Interface - Mechanical, Electrical, and Signalling Protocol Specification (HIPPI-PH) packets for transfer over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) equipment, or for use with other media. An informative annex describes an IP Router for use between HIPPI and ATM systems.
